Is stamp collecting really a hobby for all ages? Judging by all the grey heads one sees at stamp shows and in pictures of collector's clubs and organizations these days, it seems the kids of the hobby are about fifty.
But there may be an explanation in the fact that kids -- real kids -- aren't out there competing in exhibiting and striving for attention the way some older philatelists are. After all, when you're twelve, it's usually a long way before you can present any accomplishment that the world would take note of.
Are young collectors the hidden collectors? Does anyone have any data on this?
