Guide Review - UltraOptix Lighted LED Wallet Lens
The UltraOptix Lighted LED Wallet Lens is another magnification tool from the maker of the Linen Tester Loupe. It is also a solidly constructed piece of equipment. Approximately the size of a business card it offers a wide field of 2x magnification and a small 6x bifocal lens. In addition there is a fairly powerful LED light which can be either switched on or press activated. The light is pretty bright and could definitely hinder viewing if there is sufficient background light, but in less optimal conditions it will be very handy. The lens is not very heavy and fits into the hand quite nicely. The layout of the primary lens, the bifocal and the light on/off button are such that it will be easy to use in the right or left hand. It comes with a carrying pouch for easy storage and transport. While UltraOptix indicates that the Wallet Lens can indeed fit in your wallet, I would be very hesitant to try it for risk of damaging the lens or the electronics. The light takes two lithium batteries which are efficient and should not need frequent replacement.
Overall this is a very useful magnification tool and will be a welcome addition to your home work area or to your travel kit. It would be perfect for going to the stamp dealer or stamp show, or just to have with you when that unexpected stamp shows up.
