Definition: A stock book is a specially designed book used to hold stamps. It consists of cardstock pages with rows of slotted pockets going down the page. Stamps are placed into the slotted pockets. Identifying information can be written on the front of the pocket.

Stock books come in various sizes and have a variety of uses. Some collectors use them as their primary storage and display method. Others use them for transporting trade stock, storing duplicates or material that does not fit into their stamp albums.

Stock books do not require hinges making them a good choice for mint stamps or other fragile items. Stock books are much easier to place and remove material, unlike stamp mounts.
