2009 Simpsons Issue

One of the most iconic television programs of the past twenty years, the Simpsons is a satire of everything and anything you can think of. The show chronicles the antics of Homer, Bart, Marge, Lisa and Maggie, the dysfunctional family from Springfield (the exact state yet to be determined). The longest running comedy television show ever, The Simpsons has expanded to a vast empire of merchandising, including clothing, computer games, books and magazines. The show has won numerous Emmy and other awards. This stamp will be the first U.S. postage that solely depicts a TV show that was still in production when the stamp was issued. A little known fact is that the troublemaker Bart Simpson is in fact a stamp collector.
