A drying book is a good investment for the used stamp collector. When stamps are soaked off of their paper backing, a drying book offers a clean flat place to dry.
Once a stamp is soaked off of its paper backing, or covered in watermark fluid, it needs a nice flat place to dry. A stamp drying book is a good option, because it offers alternate plastic-like pages and blotter pages which allow the stamp to dry, without interfering with the adhesive backing. One should always Start from the last page in the book, laying their stamps face up onto the plastic, and covering them with the blotter page. Then turn to the next page and repeat. Once all of your soaked stamps are in place, it is a good idea to lay a heavy object on top of the closed drying book. This ensures the stamps will stay nice and flat during drying.
