Historical Stamp Movement Rings a Familiar Bell

By December 17, 2012

Follow me on:

"Higher prices in fine stamps are coming. It is inevitable. This again is no secret. There are still substantial stocks of stamps in the United States. They are available at reasonable prices. Auction levels, while they may seem high at the moment, have a way of proving to be bargains in retrospect after as little as a year or two. Sooner or later, and the way things are going, it is going to be sooner, we are going to wake up and find that our choicest pieces are no longer in our (dealers') stockbooks, or in...customers' albums. They are going overseas. Merchandise inevitably finds the best market." Herman Herst Jr. in Herst's Outbursts Vol XXII - No. 2, Summer 1963, Whole No. 101
