It is interesting that there are many in the hobby who are here the second time around. It is a fact that a great many collectors come back after originally collecting as callow youths and after they have found their place in the world. That is, they collect as kids, for whatever reason -- it was once true that many started a stamp collection to fulfill the requirement for a Scouting merit badge. In some cases it continued after Scouting days, but then as now albums are mostly left to languish on closet shelves and in attics until the collector comes back to them later in life.
Where stamp collecting was once an excitement and learning experience for a young collector, it later becomes a refuge and haven from the stresses of adult life. There are very few things in life that can have meaning and offer pleasure to one of any age.
