It's Black History Month UK, and friend of About.com Stamps, graphic designer/ad man/philatelist Jon Daniel, is back with another fascinating philatelic display.
The second installment of what is hoped will be a long running series on black history on stamps called Post-Colonial is An Exhibition of 50 Fabulous Jamaican Stamps. As with Daniel's previous exhibit, Post Colonial -- An Exhibition of Stamps from the African Diaspora, and based on his personal collection, it is located at the Stanley Gibbons store at 399 Strand in London, England.
It's a timely showing, as it is the fiftieth anniversary of the independence of Jamaica and the issuance of its first stamps as a nation and not just a colony. Previous to 1962 it had been using the stamps of Great Britain for its postal services.
