Stamps as art is not a new concept. But stamps as fine art? One who believes that philately and fine art are a proper coupling is Michael J. Deas, whose work adorns the commemoratives for Tennessee Williams, Marilyn Monroe, James Dean and others. He also designed the Columbia Pictures logo (aka the other lady with a torch) that often greets one pre-feature at the movies.
Check out a video made in anticipation of the appearance of some his original stamp art at the Ogden Museum in New Orleans.
