How's that for a National Enquirer style shock headline? (Not too shocking though, right?) I was going to run a picture of the stamp the USPS released for Father's Day at some point, but I find that no such thing exists. "What," you say, "nothing to honor the dads?" Now that's shocking.
U.S. stamp collectors know that the Mother's Day stamp is an adaptation of Whistler's iconographic painting. But dads have seemingly gotten ignored by the folks at the postal service. The closest they get is the "Love you, dad!" 22 cent booklet stamp from 1987. Anyone who knows why this may be is welcome to explain in the comments below, or over at About.com Stamps' forum.
To deal with the lack of postal Father's Day sentiment I also thought of running a picture of a stamp showing the father of our country, George Washington. But with the scores of stamps out there that feature him, he's a bit overexposed already.

Yes it is to bad that Father’s don’t get a stamp of their own to celebrate Father’s Day, they could incorporate it into the a theme, such as Military Fathers, Firefighter Fathers, etc, etc…..but alas they are thinking of all the cutbacks that they have to do.
