Maybe you missed a chance to visit the National Postal Museum with your teacher because their Stamp Stampede! program has been down while the museum is undergoing expansion construction. That doesn't mean that as a stamp collector you have to miss out on one of the peak experiences.
But there is still the possibility of a summertime self-guided tour. So if you and your parents are going to be visiting Washington D.C. this summer, why not drop in for a full dose of U.S. philately?
You can download self-guided student tour material here.
Aside from viewing our historic national stamp collection you can interactively deal with the process of sorting and delivering mail, view mail transportation vehicles through history, throw an imaginary bone to Owney the Railway Mail System canine mascot, and otherwise get to the nitty-gritty of America and her stamps and postal history.
