I was honored to be mentioned on USPS Stamps' Facebook page. I am still on a high from their great compliment about my blog and can honestly return a favor by telling you to visit and join them on Facebook. (All it takes is clicking the Like button.)
Anyway, here's what they had to say: "We are big fans of stamp-related blogs and websites, and one of our long-standing faves is John's Stamps over on About.com. John Finch is a true champion of stamp collecting, and on his blog he writes about all the latest in stamp news and offers tips for collectors, both experienced and new. Check him out!"
Thanks! I am completely humbled and thrilled to be read by the same folks who produce -- through their stamps -- the record of the good things and people in our country.
So, in return, thanks to the USPS for 2011 stamps including topics like theater (Helen Hayes) and cinema (Gregory Peck) arts; man's conquest of space (Alan Shepard); a president (Ronald Reagan); a literary master (Mark Twain); and a little dog named Owney, who melted the hearts of Railway Mail Service workers, and as their adopted mascot rode the rails all over the country on the USPOD's dime. And that's to name only a few of the great issues we will have seen from the USPS by the time 2012 rolls around.
